This paper was the final assignment for my Independent Study, where I explored the work of Colombian fashion designer Johanna Ortiz. Throughout the semester, I researched her brand and its deep connection to Colombian heritage. I examined traditional Colombian clothing and design techniques, as well as the stereotypes that have shaped perceptions of Colombia. Ortiz's work challenges and redefines these narratives, showcasing a modern interpretation of Colombian identity through fashion. I also had the opportunity to present this research at the 2025 Conference of the America's.
